The Return of the Game Wizard!!

No Changes Underway!

14th day of April, Year of the Boar: Two reviews in one day? You must be joking! Nay, although I must admit that one review covers a game released a year and a half ago, the game still sits on shelves for full price, thus deserving of the Game Wizard's scrutiny. Review the first: Jade Empire: Special Edition. Review the second: F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault Recon.

4th day of December, 2006: As a special treat, I hath written two reviews this year, instead of the usual one! Once more I journey to the foray of Medieval battles, with the next game in the Total War series, Medieval II.

31st day of July, 2006: It is hard to believe that it hath been more than a year and a half since my last game review. This stems mainly from my lack of budget to purchase new games. I have given up on redesigning the site, even though it currently looks like something I put together as a home page in 1995. Well, say what you will, but I've got a Civilization IV: Warlords review a mere week after its release!

23rd day of January, 2005: I'm hopefully going to put the Game Wizard on his own domain in the very near future, will will reduce all this clutter and make everything ... pretty ... or something. Anyway, in the mean time I've squeezed out a review of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. And, hopefully by that time I can get that Rome: Total War review I've been talking about ... I'm planning on pitting it against the Lord of the Rings RTS and the Warhammer 40K RTS ... should be interesting!

26th day of September, year of the Sim, 2004: Want to know the Game Wizard's take on the sequel to "the best selling PC game of all time"? Look no further.

24th day of August, year of the Demonic Masses, 2004: The Game Wizard was one of 35,000 people allowed "exclusive" access to the release of Doom 3. However, after spending several weeks in a mental ward, he blocked out most of the experience, and had to replay the game on Chris's computer. Read his review here.

20th day of June, year of our Lord 2004: The Game Wizard hath added yet another new game to his list of recommendations. The game, which hath been titled Battlefield: Vietnam, is now available for review.

6th day of June, year of our Lord 2004: The Game Wizard, returning to his medieval roots, finds delight in Medieval: Total War.

25th day of August, AD 2003: The Game Wizard started playing Star Wars: Galaxies on day three of the massively multiplayer game’s release. He finally logged off for a few minutes to pen a review of the game, for your reading pleasure.

10th day of June, AD 2003: The Game Wizard gives into his hate and reviews Postal II. Fear not, he has at least one or two good things to say about it!

13th day of January, year of our Lord, 2003: Firaxis has failed to comply with The Game Wizard's demands, so I have been forced to carry out sentence on Civilization 3: Play the World. In addition, the Game Wizard has added two more game reviews to his list, offering several minutes or at least seconds of perusal for the careful reader. First is the bloody blood-blooding game Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix. Second is the Massively Multiyawning Online Game, Earth and Beyond.

27th day of November, year of our Lord,  2002: The Game Wizard hath decreed a period of time not to exceed one week in which to fix the game "Civ3: Play the World" before he releases his fury on this product. Now, as rare as it is for the Game Wizard to lavish a game such that it receives a perfect rating in the annals of gaming history, it is equally as rare for a game to receive the merest inkling of recognition with the lowest ranking available, 1 "star". Now, if Firaxis does not fix thine product within a period of 1 week, they may hath so offended the wizard enough that he will be truly pissed, thus casuing him to release a review with a ranking of zero "stars". Why, might you ask, does our fair wizard feel so slighted? Well, apparently Firaxis poorly anticipated the lag and connection problems caused by the multiplayer component which is the primary focus of this expansion. The Game Wizard suspects that, since even with only 2 players both on DSL, the game is either laggy or crashes, that Firaxis must have tested their game on nothing but T-1 lines or a LAN. While this game does indeed make improvements to the single-player portion of the game, that is not the primary focus of the game and indeed, few players will purchase this expansion with only that portion in mind. Thus, to renew my appeal: fix this game with a patch within one week, or feel my wrath!!

29th day of September, year of our Lord, 2002: With the possibility that you might assume the Game Wizard seeks naught but swords and sorcery from his electronic entertainment, he brings you a review of Magic: The Gathering Online, a game whose goal is to make the company's CEO richer than Bill Gates. My assessment is "on tap" here.

4th day of September, year of our Lord, 2002: A delightful surprise, worthy of mention in the annals of computer games, is the release Neverwinter Nights by Bioware and Atari (though the name Atari has merely been purchased by Infogrames, obviously in a ploy to use name recognition to bring in more customers). Read my elegant review here.

Indication of How the Ranking System is applied according to the strict standards of the Game Wizard:

C                      These games deserve this rating not so much because they are really, really bad as how pissed I am that I actually spent time playing them!

CC                 Not the worst game in the world, but lacks creativity, or spark, or copy protection to prevent you from getting a copy from a friend

CCC    Good games, worthy of playing at least once through. You might even consider purchasing a legitimate copy so you can see the pretty CD cover art!

CCCC    Only a few choice games get the Game Wizards highest rating, along with his seal of approval and walrus of value! Go out immediately and buy a copy of this game! Why are you still here? Go already!

Shooter / Tactical
RPG
Simulation / Strategy
Arcade / Action
Multiplayer / Online

Note: The Game Wizard does not endorse downloading or pirating games. Seriously! I mean it! Bad Chris!
